Modern OverPower keeps that same core identity while expanding beyond traditional superhero-only lineups, using characters from a wide range of licenses, mythologies, literary works, and fictional settings. In that sense, OverPower is less about a single universe and more about a shared game engine that allows very different properties to coexist in one format.
In actual play, OverPower is a two-player team battler rather than a simple character-collecting game. Players build teams of characters to battle it out or try to complete their unique Mission.
