Apes leading an expedition into the Forbidden Zone find evidence of an ancient human civilization. Meanwhile, a mutant escapes death for the crime of heresy by escaping across the Forbidden Zone. Both find themselves at the mercy of the Primacy, an Ape City settlement that maintained and developed ideas of human integration.
