Beware the Warhorses of the Istir! - As the campaign against the Avar Huns begins, Valda uses a lull in the action to bathe in a nearby river. But, she is soon attacked by the Avars' fearsome carnivorous horses. Valda fights valiantly, but she's overmatched and is soon knocked unconscious. Just before starting their grisly feast, the horses are called off by a man wearing an elaborate golden horse mask. Why was she spared?
